  • The goal is to get closer to 21 than the dealer is, but without going over (busting).
  • The game begins with a player placing their bets.
  • The player and the dealer receive two cards. The dealer has one card facing up and one facing down.
  • Cards from 2 to 10 are worth their face value. Face cards (King, Queen, Jack) are all valued at 10. An Ace can be worth either 1 or 11, depending on what benefits the player's hand more.
  • A blackjack is when your first two cards total 21.
  • Blackjack pays 3:2
  • Players decide to hit, stand, split or double down, depending on their hand and the dealer's upcard.
  • Splitting is only allowed once per hand.
  • Only pairs can be split.
  • Split aces gets one card only.

Glossary

  • Bankroll:The amount of funds available for wagering.
  • Bet Spread:The range of bets made by the player.
  • Blackjack:The best possible hand in blackjack. It consists of an ace and a card with a value of 10. At most casinos, blackjack pays 3:2.
  • Bust:Busting is going over 21. If you bust, you automatically lose.
  • Double Down:Double the initial bet and then receive just one additional card. You can only double down with your first two cards.
  • Hit:Hitting is asking for another card to increase the handโ€™s value.
  • Insurance:When the dealer shows an ace, the player can place a side bet of up to half of his original bet. If the dealer has blackjack, the insurance bet pays 2 to 1. If the dealer doesn't have blackjack, the insurance bet loses. Based on probability, you should never take insurance. (So it is disabled here).
  • Round:In Blackjack, a Round starts with no cards on the table, and the playerโ€™s bets being placed. A hand is dealt to every player and also the dealer. The round ends when these hands have been played through, and the playerโ€™s bets have been paid out.
  • Stand:Decline any more cards and keep the current hand value.
  • Session:The period of time.
  • Six Card Charlie:Special bonus โ€” the player who draws 6 cards without busting automatically wins.
  • Split:If the playerโ€™s initial two cards are of the same value, they can split them into two separate hands and place an additional bet.
